Mooikloof Training Centre Update

Since opening in September 2025, the Balwin Training Centre has trained 286 community members and Balwin subcontractors in practical, job-ready skills. Training has included Plumbing, Bricklaying, Plastering, Basic First Aid (NQF Level 2), Working at Heights, Scaffolding and Firefighting Level 1. Through these programmes, the Centre is helping individuals gain practical skills, improve their employability and access opportunities within the construction and related sectors.
As the Centre continues to grow, our goal is to train approximately 400 learners annually while expanding beyond short courses into longer, more comprehensive training programmes. By the end of 2026, we aim to progress towards offering Red Seal pathways and QCTO-aligned programmes, subject to the necessary accreditation and programme requirements. This will allow learners to progress from introductory skills development towards more structured occupational training and recognised qualifications.
Looking ahead, our vision is to take skills development beyond Pretoria and establish training capacity in other regions where we operate, including Johannesburg, KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Town. By expanding our reach and strengthening pathways between training, workplace exposure and employment, we aim to equip more people with practical, job-ready skills that can create sustainable opportunities and contribute to stronger, more resilient communities.
